Terms of service

Fledgy AI is operated by Metacognition Labs LLC. Last updated 5 August 2026.

This is a template, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a lawyer before operating Fledgy AI commercially.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to them on your behalf.

You also consent to our use of artificial intelligence. Fledgy AI was built with substantial AI assistance, including its code and the curation of its opportunity and awards catalogs, so entries and guidance may contain errors no human has individually verified. No student data is sent to any model at runtime and nothing here is used for training. The full explanation is in the privacy policy, and using the product means accepting it.

2. What Fledgy AI is and is not

Fledgy AI is two things: a planning and organisation tool for university applications, and a marketplace where students find work and organisations recruit them.

As a planning tool, it does not submit university applications. It has no connection to the Common App, UCAS, College Board, ACT, Scoir or any university. You remain responsible for filing every application on the official system, by the official deadline.

As a marketplace, Fledgy AI is not an employer, an employment agency, or a party to anything you agree with someone you meet here. We do not verify roles, set terms, handle pay, or supervise work. Applications go from a student to an organisation directly; whatever follows is between the two of you and subject to your own local employment and child-labour law.

Deadlines, acceptance rates, offer ranges and program details in Fledgy AI are provided for convenience and may be inaccurate or out of date. Always verify against the official source. See Data & accuracy.

Nothing in Fledgy AI is educational, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is promised or implied.

Fledgy AI is a listing platform, not a vetting service

The Open to Work directory, the organization directory and the essay marketplace are places where people list themselves and their work. Fledgy AI does not screen, test, interview, reference-check or otherwise verify anyone or anything listed on it. Activities, honors, skills, admission claims and organisation descriptions are self-reported by the person or body making them.

  • A listing is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a statement by us that anything in it is true.
  • If you are recruiting, selecting or engaging anyone found here, the diligence is yours: verify the claims, take up references and assess the work exactly as you would from any other source.
  • Many students on Fledgy AI are minors. Anyone contacting them is responsible for their own safeguarding obligations, background checks and applicable child-protection law.
  • We are not a party to anything you agree with someone you meet here, and take no fee from it.

3. Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep your password secure.
  • One account per person. Do not share credentials, use contributors to give someone access.
  • You are responsible for everything done through your account.

4. Academic integrity

This is the most important clause in these terms.

Essays purchased through the marketplace are licensed to you for study only. Submitting purchased text, or a close paraphrase of it, as your own work in any application violates the Common App fraud policy, UCAS rules and virtually every institution's honor code. It can result in rescinded offers, revoked admission and expulsion.

You accept sole responsibility for how you use anything you read here. Metacognition Labs LLC accepts none.

You must not:

  • Submit purchased or copied text as your own in any application.
  • Redistribute, republish, resell or share purchased essays.
  • Circumvent watermarking or copy protection.
  • Misrepresent an admission you did not receive.

5. Selling content

By listing an essay you represent that:

  • You personally wrote it and submitted it in your own application.
  • You hold the rights to license it, and no school or scholarship body holds them instead.
  • You have removed information identifying other people.
  • Any admission you claim is genuine.

You grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and deliver your listing to buyers. You keep ownership. We may remove any listing that appears to breach these terms.

6. Payments

In the current build no payment processor is connected. Marketplace credits, Premium and admitted-group subscriptions do not charge and cannot be purchased or withdrawn. The terms below apply once billing is live.

  • Premium is $4.99/month; admitted group access is $4.99/month per group; both cancel any time and remain active until the end of the paid period.
  • Marketplace sellers receive 70% of each sale; Fledgy AI retains 30%.
  • School licences are billed annually per Pricing.
  • Credits have no cash value outside the platform and are not refundable except as required by law.

7. Schools

A school licence covers all students and counselors at that institution. Counselors may only access students on their own roster and may not use the data for anything other than supporting those students. Where a school deploys Fledgy AI, the school is the data controller for its students' records.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use Fledgy AI to harass, impersonate, scrape, disrupt, or attempt unauthorised access. Group chats must not be used for harassment or commercial solicitation.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, particularly the academic integrity clause. Deleting your account removes your associated records.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Fledgy AI is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that information is accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Metacognition Labs LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including missed deadlines, rejected applications, rescinded offers or lost opportunities. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Changes

We may update these terms and will post changes here with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Child labour and employment law

Many students here are minors. The rules governing their work — minimum age, permitted hours, restrictions around school hours, work permits, prohibited tasks, parental consent and minimum wage — differ by country and by state, and they bind the organisation doing the hiring.

Complying with them is that organisation's responsibility, and doing so is a condition of using Fledgy AI. Any organisation that recruits, engages, contracts or pays a student found through Fledgy AI represents that it is doing so lawfully everywhere those laws apply. We do not verify age, eligibility to work, permits, hours or working conditions, and nothing on Fledgy AI — a listing, a message, a recruiting request or a match — should be read as us having checked any of it.

Metacognition Labs LLC is not responsible for an organisation that breaks those laws. We are not the employer, not an employment agency and not a party to any arrangement made here. To the maximum extent permitted by law we accept no liability for an organisation's conduct, working conditions, or breach of child labour, employment, wage or safeguarding law, and that organisation, not us, bears any resulting claim, fine or penalty.

None of this makes such conduct acceptable here. Report it to us and we will remove the organisation from Fledgy AI, and we may report it to the relevant authority. As in section 10, nothing in this clause excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
