Opt-in from the UK page. The UK process is not a variation on the US one, it is a different game, and the track runs alongside your US application rather than replacing it.
| US | UK | |
|---|---|---|
| Number of applications | As many as you like | Five, maximum |
| What you apply to | A university; major declared later | A specific course |
| Basis of the offer | Completed record | Predicted grades, conditional on results |
| Essay | One personal statement plus supplements | One statement, three questions, seen by all five |
| Subject of the essay | Largely you | Largely the subject |
| Extracurriculars | Weighted heavily | Weighted lightly unless subject-relevant |
| Interviews | Rare, often alumni | Standard at Oxbridge and medicine |
Tracked with university, course, the offer they're asking for, status, any admissions test and an interview date. The tracker blocks a sixth because that is the actual UCAS rule, not a nag. 29 UK institutions ship with typical offer ranges.
Pick five courses, not five universities. The course matters more than the name on the building.
From 2026 entry UCAS replaced the single free-form essay with three structured questions, still 4,000 characters in total:
One click creates all three in the essay workspace with character limits converted to approximate word limits.
12 tests, filtered to the ones your chosen courses actually require: LNAT, UCAT, TMUA, ESAT, MAT, PAT, STEP, TSA, MLAT, CAT, HAT and the Oxford Philosophy Test. Each shows the universities that use it, the registration deadline, the test window and where the past papers are.
BMAT was discontinued after 2023 and is deliberately absent. ESAT replaced Cambridge's NSAA and ENGAA. UK admissions tests get restructured often, always confirm on the university's own page.
Appears once you have an Oxbridge choice or a choice at interview stage. Six principles, the core of which is that an Oxbridge interview is a simulated supervision: the interviewer pushes you past what you know on purpose, and being wrong out loud then correcting yourself is the thing they are looking for.
Anything you claimed to have read in your statement, you will be asked about. Do not list a book you skimmed.
